Larnaca Municipality has signed an important contract with Miltiades Neophytou Civil Engineering Contractors & Developers Ltd, which will undertake the reconstruction of the Acropolis and Alki squares, as well as the renovation of Ermou, Konstantinou Kalogera, Gladstonos, Louki Akrita and Orfeos streets in the city centre.
The event took place recently at the Multidisciplinary Centre for Social Welfare and Employment. According to the terms of the contract, the works will start as early as September this year. The project will cost 3.7 million euros.
The project to modernise the central squares of Larnaca was developed by AF Modinos and SA Vrahimis Architects and Engineers. The company's brief was to achieve an aesthetic, functional and qualitative renewal of the area and to ensure the smooth and safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles.
The first tender for a contractor was held on 8 November 2023. However, this attempt was unsuccessful as the municipality received only one bid. The main reason for the failure was the low budget approved for the project. Therefore, the municipality had to increase it by 450,000 euros and announced a new tender, which was won by Miltiades Neophytou Civil Engineering Contractors & Developers Ltd.
