The Municipality of Nicosia has officially announced an extension of the payment deadline for municipal fees for 2025. The new due date is December 30. The decision aims to ease the financial burden on residents and local businesses, while also simplifying payment administration toward the end of the year.
The extension applies to three main types of municipal fees:
- Waste collection fees,
- The annual business operating license,
- And the professional (or entrepreneurial) tax.
After the new deadline, legal surcharges will automatically apply in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, the municipality clarified.
Modern Payment Methods and Updated Rules
Residents can now pay their dues through several convenient methods.
The fastest and most secure option is online payment via the official Nicosia Municipality website, which offers an intuitive interface and secure card transactions.
For those who prefer in-person service, payments can be made at the Municipal Citizen Service Centers located in the following areas:
- Old Palouriotissa Market,
- Former Aglantzia Municipality building,
- 42 Kyriakou Matsi Avenue,
- Former Youth Information Center.
Payments are also accepted in cash or by card at the Central Cashier of the Nicosia Municipality.
It is important to note that cheques and bank transfers are no longer accepted, a measure designed to speed up payment processing and reduce administrative delays.

Installment Payment Option
The municipality also announced the possibility of paying in installments, which is particularly helpful for small businesses and individuals.
The minimum amount per installment is €30, making payments more manageable and accessible.
Why Timely Payment Matters
While the extension provides flexibility, residents are strongly encouraged not to wait until the last day.
Timely payments help the city maintain cleanliness, ensure the quality of municipal services, and improve infrastructure, while also allowing citizens to avoid penalties and interest charges.
Additionally, the municipality reminded that a new digital platform for tracking and managing local taxes and fees is expected to launch in 2025.
The system will enable residents to receive notifications and make payments more easily online.
