City of Dreams Mediterranean is still under active construction in Limassol.
This was announced by the Senior Vice President of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, Grant Johnson.
He noted that the work on the project advanced into the final stage. Currently, workers are actively engaged in interior decoration and landscaping around the building.
The developer plans to deliver the project without any delay, in the second quarter of 2023.
Johnson emphasized that the company is an ally of the Cypriot government in efforts to revive the tourism industry in Cyprus. The new casino resort will make the island nation a globally recognized tourism and entertainment destination.
He also said that Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited is recruiting more than 1,000 employees in various departments.
The construction started in 2017.
The City of Dreams Mediterranean was originally supposed to open its doors in 2021. However, the delivery date of the object was postponed several times.
The casino resort, owned by Melco International Development Ltd and The Cyprus Phassouri (Zakaki) Limited, is being built next to the New Port in Limassol (between Akrotiri Salt Lake and My Mall).
The casino will become part of a big luxury hotel (500 rooms). It will have 136 gambling tables and 1,200 slot machines. The resort will include an exhibition center (9600 m2), a concert hall (1500 seats), a spa center (4000 m2), as well as restaurants and entertainment clubs.
City of Dreams Mediterranean is the largest investment project ever undertaken in Cyprus. Its cost is estimated at more than 650 million euros.
According to the island's government, the City of Dreams Mediterranean will bring up to 700 million euros to the country's treasury every year (4% of the country's GDP). In addition, the City of Dreams Mediterranean will attract 300,000 tourists to the island a year, which will help solve the problem of seasonal tourism.
