In Limassol, the construction of a large park on Paul Gauguin Street (near My Mall Limassol) continues apace.
Recently, the construction site was visited by the Mayor of Limassol Nikos Nikolaides, who then shared fresh photos from the construction site on his Facebook page.
The head of the Limassol municipality stated that he was very pleased with the progress of the works. Nicolaides said that the project has reached the finish line and will be commissioned in a few months if there are no force majeure situations.
Once the works are completed, a park will appear in the west of Limassol, which will become a pole of attraction for residents and visitors to the area, as well as the entire city. The works are progressing satisfactorily, I believe that within the next few months the project will be handed over to the public," said the Mayor of Limassol.
.
The area of the new park will be 10 thousand m2. It is expected to become one of the largest in the western part of the city.
The architectural project was designed by the ANBAU bureau headed by Alexandros Christofinis and in collaboration with Stelios Lakkotrypis and Maria Lianou.
Inspired by the paintings of Gauguin, after whom the street adjacent to the future park is named, the architects developed a design based on simplicity and serenity. According to their idea, the future landscape will stand out with bright colors.
Hundreds of trees and shrubs will be planted in the new park, pedestrian paths for walking, shady places for relaxing and socializing, areas for sports, active games and cultural events. The new park will improve the microclimate of the region.
A circle has been chosen as the dominant element of the park's composition, which will be placed in the center. On three sides of the triangular part there will be slopes with a slight inclination that will converge in a circle, forming a low hill. This will make the layout of the park clearer to its visitors and the architecture more interesting and impressive. In addition, the elevation will create a sound barrier for neighboring homes. The park will have three entrances from different sides, with paths from which will lead to the center of the park.
The cost of the project is estimated at 600 thousand euros.
Once completed, the new park on Gauguin Street will be a place of attraction and socialization for the very large residential area of Zakaki. The project is part of the municipality's wider strategy to modernize Limassol's neighborhoods.
