The modernization of the wooden pier has begun in the Larnaca Marina.

According to the head of the Cypriot-Israeli consortium Kition Ocean Holdings, work is progressing at an accelerated pace to make up for lost time.

The matter is that works on berths should have begun several months ago. However, due to failures in the supply of building materials, there was a delay. Nevertheless, the management of the consortium does not lose hope of commissioning the facility within the originally set deadlines - by the end of 2023.

By the way, the historic pier will be completely reconstructed. It will be equipped with new railings, modern lighting and comfortable benches. In addition, workers are upgrading the lighthouse at the end of the pier.

The commencement of work on wooden berths officially marks the start of the first stage of the grandiose complex development project for Larnaca Marina, which will develop the sea space and part of the land, said the head of Kition Ocean Holdings.

He also noted that the consortium has submitted all the necessary documents to the Department of Environment to obtain a license for the construction of buildings that are part of Phase A of the project.

В Ларнаке начались работы по благоустройству деревянного причала

Recall that Larnaca Marina was the first port of the island.

Until 1973, a small fishing pier functioned in its place, which over time was transformed into a large marina. Since 1977, the site has been managed by the Cyprus Tourism Organization. And in 2022, it passed into the hands of Kition Ocean Holdings Ltd.

According to the plans of the Israeli-Cypriot consortium, the project will be implemented in four stages:

  1. During the first phase, the territory of the port and marina will be connected to the coastal zone of the city, Finikoudes alley and the road leading to Dhekelia. The buildings of the Port Authority, the Maritime Club, the multifunctional center and the passenger terminal will be built, the pier and the lighthouse will be repaired.
  2. During the second phase, multi-storey residential buildings, shops, entertainment facilities and parking areas will be built in the marina. In addition, a 5-star hotel will be built overlooking Finikoudes and the marina.
  3. The third phase will be dedicated to a futuristic residential complex with a panoramic view, which will house a restaurant in addition to apartments. A hotel, a conference center and a complex of private villas with gardens, swimming pools and private moorings will be built. Ancillary infrastructure for the marina will appear, including repair shops for yachts, an AIK substation, as well as storage facilities for storing yacht equipment.
  4. During the last fourth phase of the project, another complex of private villas with gardens and swimming pools, a number of residential and commercial buildings, as well as warehouses will be erected in the port area.

It is worth noting that the port and marina of Larnaca were leased by the government of Cyprus to a consortium for 40 years. At the same time, the real estate erected in them will be leased for 125 years. The Cypriot government's income from the project will amount to about 12 billion euros in the form of rental fees and a percentage of the profits.
