The number of offered student accommodation continued to record a steady increase in 2019, after a period of increased demand and lack of student housing in recent years.
At the same time, there are great prospects for further increase in the offered student dormitories until 2024.
According to a report by KPMG in 2019, the number of available rooms increased by 7% compared to 2018. The academic year 2020 is expected to add another 200 rooms in Limassol, with more projects under study.
The number of higher education students, according to the report, increased by 6.5% in the academic year 2019. At the same time, the number of distance education students is rapidly increasing, recording an increase of 8.3% in 2019 and represents 28, 2% of all students enrolled in Cypriot universities.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, KPMG estimates that some students may choose distance education, which may affect the demand for student housing.

It is worth noting that in 2017 there were 960 student accommodation spaces, a number which skyrocketed to 1,894 in 2018. In 2019 the number of student rooms rose to 2,037, while in 2020 to this number is expected to be added 200 rooms erected to accommodate students of the Technological University of Cyprus in collaboration with the Archdiocese, in the area of Ekali, Limassol. By 2024, another 500 rooms for TEPAK are expected to be delivered, which will be built in the Veregaria area.
