The Central Bank of Cyprus published deposit and loan statistics for the reference month of June 2020.
Total deposits in June 2020 showed a net increase of €106.4 million, compared with a new decease of €30.8 million in May. The annual rate of charge reached -0,7%, compared with -0,8% in May. The balance of deposits in June 2020 reached €47.8 billion.
Total loans in June 2020 showed a net increase of € 264.7 million, compared to a net increase of € 35.2 million in May 2020.
However, the balance of loans in June 2020 decreased by €568.1 million and reached at €32.2 billion The difference between the net change and the change in the balance of loans is attributed to reclassifications, value adjustments, foreign exchange or other adjustments. The annual rate of change reached -4.0%, compared to -4.4% in May 2020.
It is worth noting that the suspension of instalments, according to the provisions of the Instalment Suspension Decree of the Minister of Finance, concerned loans from MFIs to households and non-financial corporations amounting to €10.5 billion and had a positive effect on the above changes in loans.
