The constant increase in electricity tariffs is forcing the islanders to go into economy mode.
Some limit the use of heaters, air conditioners and household appliances. Others prefer to install photovoltaic systems or, simply put, solar panels in their homes.
It is worth noting that Cyprus is an ideal place to utilize solar energy due to its geographical location. The state encourages families to participate in solar energy production through several of its initiatives. These include subsidies for the installation of photovoltaic systems and the opportunity to participate in net metering.
Meanwhile, the most vulnerable categories of citizens in Cyprus can expect increased benefits. On Thursday, December 21, it became known that the amount of subsidies for this group of people increased. The Cabinet approved an increase in the amount of state subsidy for the installation of photovoltaic systems in residential buildings for vulnerable consumers. As a result of the amendment, the subsidy will increase to 1.25 thousand euros. euros per kW. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Energy, the program will remain in effect until new criteria for the subsidy scheme are announced.
In more detail, for residential buildings with vulnerable electricity consumers, the subsidy amount has been increased from 1 thousand euros to 1.25 thousand euros per installed kW of photovoltaic system, with the maximum subsidy now amounting to 6.25 thousand euros instead of the previous 5 thousand euros.

We remind you that the list of citizens who can take advantage of the state program and receive subsidies includes:
- families with dependent minor children receiving child allowance (total annual family income must not exceed 19.5 thousand euros);
