The Cyprus Statistical Service has published data on changes in the prices of construction materials for December 2024.
According to the service's report, their prices decreased slightly.
In particular, the price index for construction materials reached 116.94 points (based on 2015 = 100), which is only 0.28% lower than the previous month, but 0.04% higher than a year ago.
As a reminder, the construction output price index reflects the change in prices in construction projects of various economic activities.
The cost of metal products fell the most in December 20-24. The price of goods in this category fell by 2.33%. On the other hand, there were price increases for electro-mechanical products (+0.97%), wood products, insulation materials, chemicals and plastics (+1.39%), minerals (+0.74%) and mineral products (+0.77%).
From January to December, however, the index recorded a decrease of 0.81% compared to 2023, due to a fall in the prices of a number of materials.
In particular, the price of construction mesh (-7.88%), roofs/sheds and metal parts for drywall and cement boards (-7.61%), construction metal (-7.13%) and structural steel (-6.61%) fell.
Conversely, prices for some materials rose compared to 2023, with the most significant increases recorded for concrete and plastering materials (+7.13%), cables (+6.5%), bituminous concrete (+4.79%) and sockets, switches, fuses and insulators (+3.57%).
