In 2024, Polis to Become Attractive Destination for Cypriots and Tourists

On Monday, January 8, the mayor of Polis Chrysochous - Yiotis Papachristofi, announced that 100 million euros have been invested in the coastal town over the past year.

Thanks to this, there will be a lot of benefits for the locals in the near future.

Polis Chrysochous is expected to be radically transformed by the end of 2024. The mayor noted that among the important projects that have already been completed are the expansion of the Latchi harbor and the replacement of the sewage system. However, many positive changes await the city in the new year.

In particular, the area in front of the municipality and the old police station in Polis should be improved by September. The budget allocated 1.8 million euros for this purpose. In addition, a project to install 3.2 km of sidewalks north of the main Polis-Latchi road has recently started, which will cost the municipality 1.8 million euros (of which 1.2 million euros were provided by the Ministry of Transport).

Papachristofi mentioned that the first phase of the conversion of the warehouses in Latchi into the Museum of the Sea has been completed.

The second phase, which is estimated to cost 1.2 million euros, should start at the end of January. The mayor also mentioned a project aimed at highlighting the municipality's ancient monuments, worth 4 million euros. The municipal stadium in Polis is expected to be renovated in 2024. For this purpose, 500 thousand euros will be allocated, of which 75% of the funds will be provided by the Cyprus Football Association. Among other things, Polis will have a modern kindergarten. The cost of this project is estimated at 800 thousand euros.

As for the projects that are currently under consideration, the list includes: the modernization and landscaping of the camping site of Polis Chrysochous, the construction of a linear park and promenade, a new pedestrian path, the creation of a modern playground, a recreation center on the beach and the construction of a new cemetery, the modernization of the tourist resort of Polis Chrysochous.

After the complete renovation of Polis, the region will become a center of attraction for locals and tourists. The main goal is to improve the aesthetic appearance of the area, as well as its accessibility and functionality," Papachristofi emphasized.
