The historic but semi-abandoned Piale Pasha Hani Hotel in the village of Mari in Larnaca district will be restored.
The local Municipality announced this on Thursday, November 30.
Notably, Maria Georgiou, head of the municipality, called a tender to realize the project. Interested parties can submit applications for participation in the tender until December 15. Then, members of the Mari municipality will summarize the results and choose the winner. The winning contractor will be allocated 780 thousand euros for the renovation of the building.
The hotel will be completely restored for the needs of our community. There is no doubt that the hotel will become a new neighborhood landmark," Gheorghiu said.
She also emphasized that the work on the projects is planned to start in the first half of 2024. The hotel should be put into operation a year after the start of the renovation.
This hotel, which previously belonged to the Turkish-Cypriots, is in ruins today. For 12 years we have set ourselves the goal of restoring it. The hotel is an integral part of Cyprus' history and needs to be renovated," Gregoriou concluded, mentioning that the restored building will become a public space.

The village of Mari is located 39 kilometers southwest of Larnaca.
The Vasilikos River passes to the east of the village. The village has existed under this name since the Middle Ages. In old maps, the place is marked as Marin. In the northeast of the village, there is a small wooden chapel dedicated to St. Constantine and St. Helen. From the small hill on which it stands, there is a view of the sea. The church was built by the workers of the Vasiliko cement factory around 1995. Not far from the church, in a northeastern direction, there is a cattle farm, the Hadjiloizos inn, and an old bridge next to the hotel. Hotel Piale Pasha Hani is a typical example of Ottoman architecture.
