Hellenic Bank stated that it values its customers, so it decided to launch a new product, within the framework of which individuals and legal entities will be able to receive income in the amount of 1.5% of their deposits.
At the same time, the minimum deposit amount should be only 20 thousand euros. The deposit account will be open for 18 months.
According to the bank representative, the main features of this product are unlimited deposit amount, the possibility of automatic deposit prolongation, and maintenance of the account in euros. The new term deposit is oriented to both individuals and legal entities. It should be noted that this product has a higher interest rate compared to other deposit products offered by Hellenic Bank.
The bank noted that individuals, clients of Hellenic Bank, can easily and simply open a term deposit for 18 months through online banking in real-time.
It should be noted that Hellenic Bank decided to launch the new offer in response to calls by Finance Minister Makis Keravnos and Central Bank Governor Konstantinos Herodotos to raise interest rates on deposits so that depositors can earn higher profits.
In particular, Keravnos called on the Central Bank of Cyprus and commercial banks to lower lending rates and banking rates, and to raise deposit rates.
The previous tax reform took place in 2008. I believe it is necessary to embark on another review of the tax system. The goal is for the tax reform to be fiscally neutral, but it should be an additional mechanism for a better and fairer redistribution of income," Keravnos emphasized.
