Recently, the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) carried out a new study in which it was found that 11% of the population of Cyprus has housing problems.
These data were commented by the local government.
In particular, the Ministry of Finance of Cyprus stated that the main reason for such high figures are the consequences of the Turkish invasion, which affected about 90 thousand inhabitants of the island state. The ministry stressed that if we exclude this factor, only % of the local population really faces housing problems. At the same time, the situation in Cyprus is much better than in other EU countries. In particular, the EU average is 4.9%.
If we exclude this reason, the real percentage is one compared to 4.9% of the EU average, which is one fifth of the EU average," the ministry concluded.
The ministry also noted that Cyprus is a leader among European countries in terms of the quality of housing conditions. Only 1.3% of Cypriots experience housing problems due to lack of finances, compared to the EU average of 25.9%. In addition, Cyprus stands out for the lack of correlation between unemployment and housing problems, which is in sharp contrast to the situation in the EU, where this indicator reaches 7.3%.
Based on the above, it is obvious that Cyprus not only does not have a housing problem, but on the contrary, it compares very favorably with the rest of the EU countries, - concluded the Ministry of Finance.
