Atterbury Europe CEO Hank Deist announced on Tuesday 16 July that Eurobank will provide funding for the construction of a new shopping centre in Limassol.
The financial institution recently granted preliminary approval for a loan to the developer.
We are very pleased with the banking and commercial support we have received from the leading players in the Cypriot market. With Eurobank's approval, we have all the necessary funds to realise a major project. As soon as we receive the necessary approvals, we will be ready to start," said Deist.
In addition, the CEO of Atterbury Europe said that his company had succeeded in concluding an agreement with the leading hypermarket chain Alfamega, which will be one of the main tenants in the new shopping centre.
As a reminder, Mall of Limassol will be built close to the Vashiotis Kalande residential complex and the municipal kindergarten no. 27 in the Mesa Getonia area.
The building will consist of two floors and will house 114 shops. The total built-up area will be 31,181 m2 and the total leasable area will be 27,025 m2.
According to the plan, the ground floor of the shopping centre will have a traditional design. It will unite two sections with the central part. AGORA will be the 'face' of the mall with traditional elements of the old town of Limassol, giving local traders the opportunity to offer their specialised goods/services in an organised formal market. The ground floor of the new mall will house the entire retail network, including a section of department stores, fashion, health and beauty shops, jewellers and food supermarkets. There will also be a wide range of indoor and outdoor restaurants on the ground floor. Retail outlets on the ground floor will cover all aspects including fashion, services, sports and more.
The first floor of the Mall of Limassol will be dedicated to family entertainment. It will feature a state-of-the-art cinema, a children's activity zone and a fast food area. The open-air area will overlook the main road and the sea. For the convenience of visitors, Mall of Limassol will have a large underground car park. A public park will be developed adjacent to the mall, which will be managed and maintained by Mall of Limassol for the benefit of local residents.
Deist stressed that Atterbury Europe has high hopes for the project as it sees investment prospects in the construction of a shopping centre in Limassol. He also noted that the project represents a modern "village concept" that carefully balances luxury and everyday needs, something that is missing from the current shopping experience in Limassol, where luxury retail brands are usually confined to the main streets of the old town and along the long coastal road.
