International financial magazine Euromoney has named Eurobank the Best Bank in Cyprus for 2026. In addition to the top award, the financial group also received the title of Best Bank for Large Corporates, confirming its leading position in the country’s banking sector.
The prestigious honours were presented as part of the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, one of the most respected international competitions in the financial services industry. Experts assessed banks’ performance between 1 January and 31 December 2025, paying particular attention to financial stability, digital technologies, customer service quality and the implementation of strategic projects.
Cyprus’ largest banking group and record business growth
One of the key factors behind Eurobank’s victory was the successful completion of the legal merger between Hellenic Bank and Eurobank Cyprus, which resulted in the creation of Eurobank Limited, the largest banking and insurance group in Cyprus. The new group’s total assets now exceed €28 billion, making it the country’s largest financial institution.
The bank’s corporate lending performance also received high praise. During 2025, its business loan portfolio increased by approximately 17%, reflecting strong demand for financing from companies and investment projects. The bank’s customer base also continues to grow. Eurobank currently serves more than 710,000 individual customers and over 11,500 corporate clients in Cyprus. This strengthens the bank’s position as one of the island’s leading financial partners for both individuals and businesses.

Digital services are becoming the standard in banking
One of Eurobank’s main strengths remains its active development of digital technologies. By the end of 2025, customers carried out more than 96% of all banking transactions through digital channels, including the mobile application and online banking. Most financing applications are also submitted online through the mobile app.
This level of digitalisation significantly speeds up customer service, reduces application processing times and improves the security of financial transactions. The development of online services is becoming one of the key priorities for Cyprus’ banking market, as an increasing number of customers prefer to manage their finances remotely.
Cyprus strengthens its role as an international financial centre
Another important achievement was the expansion of the group’s international presence. Eurobank opened its first representative office in India, becoming the first Greek or Cypriot banking group to establish a physical presence in this rapidly growing market. This move strengthens economic ties between India and Cyprus while enhancing the island’s role as one of the European Union’s financial and investment centres.
Cyprus remains an attractive gateway to the European market for international companies thanks to its modern banking system, transparent regulatory framework and favourable tax regime. According to Euromoney analysts, the successful integration of the banks, the active development of corporate banking, the large-scale digital transformation and the contribution to improving Cyprus’ investment appeal were the main reasons Eurobank received two prestigious international awards.
Management comments
Eurobank CEO Michalis Louis said that the Euromoney awards confirmed the successful implementation of the bank’s long-term strategy in Cyprus. According to him, 2025 was a transformative year for the group following the successful merger of Hellenic Bank and Eurobank Cyprus. This made it possible to create the country’s largest banking and insurance group and significantly expand its ability to support individuals, businesses and the Cypriot economy.
He also emphasised that the bank continues to invest actively in digital technologies, innovative solutions and international expansion. Eurobank believes that its double victory at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026 was the result of the professional work of its employees, the support of the international Eurobank Group and a consistent development strategy. The awards confirm the high level of customer trust, the resilience of the bank’s financial model and its important role in the development of Cyprus’ economy.
