Cypriot residents will now be able to pay their electricity bills at post offices across the island.
On Tuesday 29 April, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) signed an agreement with the Cyprus Post Office to this effect.
The official ceremony took place in the presence of Energy Minister Yiorgos Papanastasiou and Transport, Communications and Public Works Minister Alexis Vafeadis, who underlined the importance of the new partnership. The agreement was part of the two organisations' joint strategy to improve the quality of life of citizens and increase access to public services, especially for the elderly and those living in rural and remote areas.
Thanks to this initiative, EAC's customer service network has grown from ten to 61 locations. The process of paying bills is now easier and more convenient, without the need to visit EAC offices or use online applications, which can be difficult for some categories of citizens.
The Cypriot Energy Minister said that this cooperation between public institutions is an example of good governance aimed at improving service levels and adapting to the real needs of the population. Mr Vafeadis, for his part, stressed the social importance of the initiative.
This is not just a new way of paying - it is a step towards building trust between the state and citizens, especially vulnerable groups. We are making public services closer, simpler and more human,' said the Cypriot Minister of Transport, Communications and Public Works.
Finally, Cyprus Post officials said they are ready for the increased flow of visitors and have already trained staff to process payments efficiently and quickly. The innovations are part of a wider digital and service transformation of public services in Cyprus, aimed at simplifying administrative procedures and making basic services more accessible to everyone on the island.
