The Cypriot Ministry of Transport, Communications and Public Works has announced a tender for the dredging of Larnaca Marina.
The tender notice has been published on the website of the electronic public procurement system. All the necessary tender documents can also be found there.
The project includes:
- Deepening the entrance and water area of Larnaca port.
- Installation and operation of two special navigation lights (lamps) for the lighthouses of the marina, which will be powered by renewable energy sources - solar panels (photovoltaic system).
According to the Ministry, the project will take 20 weeks to complete. The initial cost is estimated at 1 million euros. The repairs are expected to be carried out without closing or disrupting the marina.
The project is being carried out under a decision of the Council of Ministers and is part of the state's commitment to ensuring the safety of navigation in the marina's waters, maintaining and upgrading the marina's infrastructure, developing the coastal zone and improving Larnaca's tourist appeal.
According to the Ministry, the dredging works will improve navigational conditions in the port, making it more accessible to different types of vessels and contributing to the further development of maritime tourism and commercial traffic in the region.
It is recalled that the reconstruction of Larnaca marina includes dredging, construction of a maritime club building and landscaping. The client is the local municipality. The budget for the project is around €30 million.
