The Ministry of Interior of Cyprus has drafted a new bill to simplify the process of inspection of residential properties that have undergone illegal redevelopment without the approval of the relevant authorities.
According to the concept, the innovation provides for fines not for each square meter of premises, but for each type of violation.
By the way, the principle of penalties per square meter of minor violations (without distinguishing their types) is currently in force. The effect of this rule applies to real estate that was erected before 2018. However, once the amendments are approved, the innovations will apply to all objects, without exception.
Property owners will be able to pay fines for violations of the plan and then will be able to obtain titles of owners.
It should be noted that the list of minor violations of the original plan, for which different types of fines are due, includes:
- sunshade sheds,
- storage areas,
- glazing on balconies and porches.
- other minor violations.
It is important to mention that different systems will be applied for residential and commercial properties.
