The Cyprus Department of the Environment has approved the construction of a new theme park named Candle.
The park will be constructed on the territory of the village of Alethriko, west of Larnaca.
It is expected to give impetus to the development of new forms of tourism, as well as to revive the endangered profession of the waxworker in Cyprus.
According to the release, a spacious building will be erected on the site allocated for the park construction. The park will have:
- hall,
- workshop for making candles,
- experimental workshop,
- toilets,
- warehouse space,
- office,
- kitchen-dining room
- café.
Dozens of trees, fragrant bushes and various other plants plan to be planted around the theme park building so that park visitors have the opportunity to walk around and enjoy the local landscape. A water reservoir of a 55m2 capacity will be installed in the park for decorative purposes.
In addition, wax exhibits for sale, an exposition of traditional equipment and a photo gallery will be in the open space. The photo gallery will tell about the development of the waxwork profession from its origin to the present day.
The territory of the park will be completely fenced. There will also be a spacious parking lot for the visitors convenience.
Construction of the Candle theme park will begin in the very near future and should take about 6 months.
