Construction of a new building for the Cyprus Blood Transfusion Center has been completed.
A ceremony was recently held to celebrate this significant milestone.
The modern building is located on Dimitris Christofias Avenue (formerly Geris Avenue) in Nicosia. It has a basement, ground floor, and two upper floors.
The new center will collect blood from all regional stations, process and control it, store it, and finally distribute about 80,000 blood components for clinical use throughout the country.
Additionally, the center will conduct laboratory research. This will help develop the production of plasma-based medicines and blood components.
Cyfield implemented the project.
The company completed all work on schedule within 24 months. The developer has been granted the right to maintain the facility for the next 12 years. The building, which now houses an important public service, was constructed with high-quality materials in accordance with the highest technical specifications. It has a modern, functional design.
The project cost €7,854,000 (including VAT). Part of the funding came from the European Fund for Sustainable Development (EFSD) as part of Cyprus's National Recovery and Development Plan.
