Starting Monday, July 7, 2025, the Cyprus Ministry of Migration will begin accepting applications for the EU Blue Card. This residence and work permit is designed to attract highly skilled professionals from countries outside the EU and EEA.
Who is the program intended for?
To obtain a Blue Card, you must work in one of Cyprus's priority economic sectors. These include:
- Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
- Pharmaceuticals (for research activities only)
- Maritime shipping (excluding captains and crew members).
Additionally, applicants must have a monthly income of at least €3,636 (€43,632 per year) before taxes to participate in the program.
What does the EU Blue Card offer in Cyprus?
Blue Card holders enjoy a wide range of privileges, including:
- The right to enter, reside, and work in Cyprus.
- Equal treatment with Cypriot citizens in terms of employment, social protection, access to healthcare (including the GeSY system), education, and training;
- The possibility of family reunification, with family members receiving a similar period of residence.
- They can also accumulate residence time in EU countries for subsequent application for EU long-term resident status.
The Blue Card opens doors to more than just a comfortable life on the island; it also opens doors to career and professional growth within the European Union (excluding Denmark and Ireland, which do not participate in the program).
How do you apply?
Applications for the EU Blue Card will be accepted on the Cyprus Ministry of Migration's official website. The necessary form (MBCEU1) and a list of required documents will be available on the portal. Additional information about the application process will also be available there.
