According to the Cyprus Statistical Service, the Industrial Turnover Index reached 180.1 units in December 2023 (2015 base = 100), an increase of 0.3% compared to December 2022.
In the manufacturing sector, the Index reached 186.8 points in December 2023, an increase of 1.6% compared to December 2022.
There was also a 21% increase in the water supply and materials processing sectors and a 9.4% increase in the mining sector. A decline was recorded in the electricity sector by 12.4%.
In turn, from January to December 2023, the Index recorded an increase of 5.8% compared to the corresponding period last year.
Production of electronic, optical products, and electrical equipment increased by 25.4% in the last month of the year, production of other non-metallic mineral products - by 17%, production of machinery and equipment - by 14.8%, production of textiles, clothing, and leather goods - by 12.7%.
The production of refined petroleum products, chemicals, pharmaceutical products, and preparations also increased by 9.5%, while the production of food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 9.2%. The woodworking and wood products industry (excluding furniture) recorded a 7% increase, while production of basic metals and metal products rose 6.1%. At the same time, a decrease of 2.3% was observed in the production of rubber and plastic products, as well as a decrease of 14.8% in the sector of secondary processing of materials.
