On Thursday 2 January, the Cyprus Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance announced that all legal entities operating on the island are obliged to re-register their employees in the Ergani system by 28 February 2025.
The registration process has already started. Applications can be submitted electronically through the website ergani.mlsi.gov.cy. In particular, it is necessary to specify
- Personal data of the employer;
- the type of activity;
- Personal data of the employee;
- the address of the employer's registered office
- Place of work;
- Specialisation and job description of the employee;
- Date of commencement of employment;
- Date of termination of employment;
- Details of the indirect employer;
- Conditions and duration of the probationary period;
- Length of annual leave and method of payment;
- Salary (frequency and timing of payments);
- Working hours;
- Irregular working hours;
additional payments (allowances, commissions, bonuses, etc.).
It should be recalled that Cyprus has recently introduced a new information system called "Ergani".
With its help, all local employers have been obliged to report on the workers they hire. Incidentally, a similar system has been operating for several years in Greece, which has agreed to share the software with Cyprus free of charge. The main objective of 'Ergani' is to facilitate the verification of compliance with local labour laws and to reduce the number of employees who are not officially registered in various companies and organisations. The system requires employers to electronically submit all data on their employees at least one day before they are hired.
