The authorities of the Geroskipou neighbourhood of Paphos want to turn their community into the green lungs of the city. Three new parks will be created here in the near future. One of them will be located in the east of the cultural capital of Cyprus.
The municipality of Geroskipou recently started work on this major project.
According to the plan, the park will stretch from the last roundabout on the Limassol-Pafos motorway to Limnara in Kato Paphos.
The total length of the new park will be 6.5 kilometres. It will include playgrounds, sports facilities, a cafeteria and dog walking areas. Together with the coastal path, the park will allow residents and visitors to walk and enjoy the sea, nature and magnificent views.
The construction of the new park will cost the Paphos municipality €9.2 million. This amount does not include the cost of expropriating the land, which has not yet been valued.
It should be remembered that Geroskipou is the second largest municipality in the Paphos region. Plans to green this part of the town are being actively implemented. The mayor of Geroskipou pointed out that the local authorities had recently planted more than 2,000 saplings. As part of a programme to create a more pleasant urban environment, the municipality has installed modern playground equipment at a cost of 25,000 euros.
