In Paphos, a contract has been signed for improvement works on a section of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue located within the municipalities of Paphos and Konia. The project will be implemented under Tender No. 69A΄/2025, initially registered as 69/2025. The tender was awarded to Panath Construction Ltd. The agreement was signed on behalf of the local authorities by a municipal representative, and on behalf of the contractor by the head of Panath Construction Ltd, Socratis Themistocleous.
Project Cost and Timeline
The total contract value amounts to €1,474,340.60, excluding VAT. According to the agreement, the duration of the works will be 10 months from the official start date. The project is expected to be carried out in phases, with minimal disruption to daily traffic flow, which is particularly important given that this is a busy road section.

Joint Funding and Municipal Cooperation
The project is being promoted and co-financed by the municipalities through close cooperation between the two local authorities. This partnership reflects a modern approach to urban infrastructure development in Cyprus, where pooling resources allows for the implementation of larger and more impactful projects for residents and businesses alike. Archbishop Makarios III Avenue is a key transport corridor linking residential areas with commercial zones and tourist destinations.
Improving Safety and Urban Quality
Once completed, the project is expected to significantly enhance road safety and improve the avenue’s traffic capacity. Authorities anticipate that the upgraded infrastructure will have a positive impact on the overall attractiveness of the area, reduce accident rates, and create more comfortable conditions for both drivers and pedestrians. In 2025, such infrastructure projects are regarded as a key element of sustainable urban development in Cyprus, particularly in the context of population growth and increasing traffic volumes.
