The inauguration of the renovated Visitor Centre at Troodos Geopark took place on Thursday 12 December.
The event was officially attended by the Cypriot Minister of Agriculture, Maria Panayiotou, and other high-ranking officials.
It should be noted that thanks to the work carried out, the Pano Amiantos centre has become more comfortable and technologically advanced. Its accessibility, digital services and the comfort of the open spaces have been improved.
During the ceremony, Panayiotou stressed the value of the park's flora and fauna to Cyprus' natural heritage. As part of the event, local guides were presented with special certificates authorising them to conduct tours to promote the region's cultural and geological wealth. This is a group of young people who have been trained to guide visitors around the geological and cultural sites of the Geopark.
Home to unique flora and fauna, Troodos Geopark is an important natural heritage site and a testament to the island's rich geological history. These young guides will act as ambassadors for our heritage, promoting sustainable tourism and enhancing the visitor experience," said Panayiotou.
The upgrading of the visitor centre at Pano Amiantos was funded by the Reconstruction and Sustainability Fund.
