Repairs have begun at the coastal town's main hospital.

In 2024, Larnaca General Hospital will have a state-of-the-art emergency department to serve residents of the city and surrounding villages.

The project is part of a grand plan to modernize, develop and expand the infrastructure of the State Health Organization (OKYpY).

According to OKYpY, work on the new department is already well underway. The works are expected to last about 20 months. In addition to the expansion and modernization of the current emergency department, the project includes the creation of a new infectious disease department, a short-term hospitalization department, and a complete renovation of the radiology department and office space.

During the renovation work, OKYpY has made special arrangements to better and safely serve visitors to the hospital and urged the public to be patient and understanding. OKYpY said that after the project is completed, the medical space will increase from 310 m2 to 1,115 m2. It will fully comply with modern standards of patient care.
