The Cyprus Maritime and Shipping Institute (CMMI), based in Larnaca, recently signed an agreement with the Municipality of Mazotos to establish an information centre in the village.
The aim is to create a state-of-the-art space for the collection of underwater and terrestrial antiquities that have been discovered in the area over the past 15 years as a result of research by the University of Cyprus and the Department of Antiquities.
The project is expected to start soon and will take approximately 12 months to complete.
It should be recalled that the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is an independent international scientific and business centre.
It is worth mentioning that it was recently decided to construct a new state-of-the-art building for the Centre in the Mackenzie area, close to the sea, the airport and the port. CMMI's main areas of focus are entrepreneurship, innovation and laboratory research.
The opening of the new Cyprus Maritime and Shipping Institute building is expected to transform Larnaca into a European research and education centre specialising in a sustainable blue economy. CMMI is an integral part of the Larnaca community and a key factor in achieving the city's strategic goals, contributing to local development and creating jobs for young people in Cyprus.
