The Cyprus Department of the Environment has granted Amazon permission to build a pharmaceutical plant in the Monagullis industrial zone in the Limassol area.
Construction of the plant will begin in the near future. According to the environmental report, the entire process is expected to take around 10 months, provided there are no delays. The total cost of the work is estimated at €4 million.
The future pharmaceutical plant will cover an area of 4,405 m² and will be 14.55 m high. The building will have three floors:
- Level 1 (basement): a car park and technical rooms (1,341 m²);
- Level 2 will house pharmaceutical production areas (2,109.85 m²);
- Level 3 will contain offices and ancillary rooms (954 m²).
The site layout is as follows:
The southern part will have an entrance with a security post, two car parks, an unloading area, and a green area of 47.5 m².
The northern part will have a separate entrance, a container yard, 15 parking spaces (two for people with disabilities) and a green area of 72.5 m².
On the east and west sides, there will be an additional 10 parking spaces for employees.
An additional underground car park is planned, which will increase the total number of parking spaces to 50.
The new factory will specialise in producing tablets and capsules.
A total of 35 different products are planned for manufacture. Annual production will be 40–50 million units, which will be packaged in bottles and blister packs. Around 10 million packages will be produced each year.
The 7,852 m² site for the new plant is located 620 m south-east of the centre of Monagullis and 975 m from the Nicosia–Limassol motorway. The net construction area is 5,392 m². This is an industrial zone (category B1). The site will be accessible from two roads:
- From the west: Anexartisias Street, which is connected to the B1 motorway and Irini Avenue.
- From the east, it will be accessible via the Pentakomo–Monagrou road, which leads to Panagias Neroforousas Street.
