A new marina is being built in the resort town of Paralimni, Cyprus. There are no delays in the implementation of the project and all works are on schedule.
This was stated by Antoulis Kountouris - head of PMV Maritime Holdings Ltd, which is overseeing the large-scale facility.
According to Kountouris, by the end of 2024 - beginning of 2025, all the port works should be completed. And the first part of the new marina is scheduled to open in the summer of 2025. He also noted that the contractor's goal is to hand over the commercial premises to tenants by the end of 2024, so that they can prepare shops and catering facilities (cafes, restaurants) for operation.
This is a fairly large and complex project, so the work is taking time. Currently, the construction of the inner quays is underway, the construction of the pier has been completed and the signalling system, i.e. the lighthouses, has been installed. Work on the entrance group has also been completed. Workers are now finishing the building that will house the public services (police, customs, veterinary and medical clinics). A petrol station is also being built. All of this is expected to be completed by next summer," said Kountouris.
The head of PMV Maritime Holdings Ltd also said that the first phase of construction of residential buildings (40 apartments) is in the final stage. The residential complex is expected to be commissioned in May 2025. He stressed that all the apartments available at this stage have already been sold. Interestingly, 90% of the buyers were Cypriots. As for the second phase, which will see the construction of 37 luxury villas, work has already begun and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. However, the homes in the second phase have already been sold. Kountouris said the second phase of the project will include a 50-bed hotel complex, with the same timetable as the villas.
The cost of the project is estimated at 100 million euros. We have managed to limit the increase in the price of apartments and villas, despite the rise in the cost of construction materials,' said Kountouris.
We would like to remind you that the marina, with a total area of 29 thousand m2, is being built in the Pernera district, in the bay of Luma, between the green zone and the fishing marina that has existed here since 1980.
Once completed, the new marina will be able to accommodate 300 yachts. There will be shops, restaurants, cafes and a boutique hotel. The centrepiece of the marina will be an elite residential complex with unique villas and 119 apartments in six high-rise buildings. The tallest building will be 10 storeys. For the convenience of residents and visitors to the complex, there will be a walkway to the beaches of Protaras and a car park for a record 600 cars.
The companies involved are PMV Maritime Holdings Ltd, J&P, Marina Projects Ltd, Nicolaidis&Kountouris Metal Company Ltd. The project architect is Harper Downie Creative Architecture (UK) in association with Kythreotis Architects. Camlins will be responsible for the landscaping.
Paralimni Marina is the third in a network of marinas completed, under construction or planned across the island. The Limassol marina has been operating at full capacity since 2014, while the Ayia Napa marina will open in 2022. The Paralimni marina, which will open in 2024-2025, will be the largest development project in the region.
