The Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia has announced the completion of renovation works at Neofytos Poullos Park in the municipal district of Frenaros. The project aimed to create a safer, more modern, and more comfortable space for children, parents, and local residents.
The renovated park is now open to visitors and represents another step forward in the development of public infrastructure in the Famagusta region, where recreation areas, playgrounds, and public spaces have been actively upgraded in recent years.
What Has Changed After the Renovation
As part of the project, the park grounds were completely refurbished. The area now features a new decorative gravel surface and autonomous solar-powered lighting. This solution helps reduce electricity costs while making the site more environmentally friendly.
Special attention was paid to children's safety. Existing swings were repaired, with chains and seats replaced, while a special impact-absorbing surface was installed beneath the playground equipment. In addition, a new modern play area designed for children of different age groups was added to the park. As a result, the space has become more functional and better suited for family recreation.
The project was funded by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. Authorities note that initiatives like this help improve quality of life in smaller communities and create a more comfortable environment for local residents. In recent years, the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia has been actively investing in the enhancement of public spaces. Alongside park renovations, projects have also been implemented to upgrade public squares, pedestrian areas, sports facilities, and urban infrastructure.

Why Such Projects Matter for Cyprus
Across Cyprus, increasing attention is being given to the development of safe public spaces for children and families. Modern playgrounds equipped with certified equipment and safety surfaces are becoming an essential element of the urban environment.
These projects are particularly important in the rapidly growing free areas of Famagusta, home to a large number of young families. The creation of high-quality recreational spaces helps strengthen local communities and makes towns and villages more attractive places for permanent residence.
The Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia stated that it will continue implementing projects aimed at improving public areas, upgrading infrastructure, and creating safe places for recreation, social interaction, and leisure activities for residents of all ages.
