On Friday, March 15, Paphos inaugurated the “Park of Colors"
During the event, the mayor of the city, Fedonas Fedonos, signed a contract with the company that won the tender to provide a license for the full management of the new public space.
The term of the contract will be 7 years with the right of further prolongation. The contractor committed to the maintenance and improvement of the entire park, and in return received the right to commercially operate the cafeteria, all sports fields, and the climbing wall.

The new public space can be found at the intersection of Ellados Avenue and Evagoras Pallikaridis.
It has an area of 32 thousand m2. The project is one of the largest scale in Cyprus - both in terms of area and infrastructure.
The new park includes:
- a café,
- skatepark,
- a tennis court,
- a botanical garden,
- a 3.6-meter-high climbing wall,
- basketball court,
- a children's playground,
- a small soccer field,
- green areas,
- outdoor exhibition space,
- sanitary zone,
- parking for 83 cars, including for people with disabilities.
The project is authored by a team of architects including Yorgos Onisiforou, Panayiotis Polemitis, and Eleutherios Vomvolakis. In March 2020, they won the architectural design competition. Among the many works submitted, their project was recognized as the best.
It is worth noting that the name of the park was not chosen by chance. According to the architects, it is designed to remind people of the value and importance of colors in everyday life.
Among the other proposed names in the competition were: "Sustainability Park", "Livelihood Park", "Big Park", and "Big City Park".
The Mayor of Paphos emphasized that the long-awaited development of the park area in the center of Paphos will have a positive impact on the development of the area, and the new park will undoubtedly become a point of attraction for residents and visitors to the city.
The project cost 4 million euros.
