There is a new public school in Paphos called Lumio Private School.
The school is located in the village of Achelia, close to the airport. The school has an official operating licence from the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth for grades 1-9.
It is managed by Bright Era Education. In 2023, the company purchased the complex of buildings that previously housed the American Academy. The new owner undertook an extensive renovation of all the buildings and the almost 7-hectare site. The campus has been completely refurbished, creating a modern learning environment with spacious classrooms, fully equipped science and IT laboratories, and dedicated areas for the arts and sports.
The school follows the Cambridge International Curriculum. Core subjects include mathematics, art, music, science, entrepreneurship, robotics and physical education. Students at Lumio Private School also have access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities with a variety of sports fields for tennis, football, basketball and volleyball.
In the near future, the school's management intends to open a 10th grade and offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for grades 11 and 12, providing students with a comprehensive and globally competitive education. All the necessary documents have already been submitted to the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth. The school has begun the process of licensing and accreditation for two additional programmes. The language of instruction at Lumio Private School is English. The teaching staff consists of experienced professionals from various countries, as well as support staff who share the school's vision and values.
The aim of the Lumio staff is to create a school where children are happy,' said Headmaster Colin Sinclair.
It should be noted that Lumio Private School operates as a non-profit organisation. All income from the running of the school is used exclusively for its development.
