The Cyprus Department of Environmental Protection has granted permission for the construction of a new private hospital in the Kato Polemidia area of Limassol.
The medical facility called "Iasio" will open its doors at the end of 2025.
The project implementation period will be 18 months from the date of obtaining the necessary permits. The approximate cost of construction of the hospital is estimated at 4 million euros. The construction area will comprise 1,950 m2.
According to the release, the project includes:
- A modern 2-story building with a basement, where three operating rooms, 12 wards with 30 beds, a maternity ward, technical and restrooms for doctors, a morgue, toilets, and changing rooms will be equipped.
- An office building with a waiting area for visitors, an outpatient department with six examination rooms, a laboratory, and a conference room.
- Auxiliary premises (storage and mechanical), archive, and sanitary areas with a total area of 470 m2.
- Parking lot with a total capacity of 94 cars.
- A controlled private staff parking lot consisting of 21 parking spaces will be constructed in the eastern part of the project. Vehicles will enter and exit at the same point.
- On the west side of the block, 73 visitor parking spaces, including 7 for persons with disabilities, would be created along the perimeter of the building.
- Bicycle parking spaces will be placed in both public and private parking lots.
The new clinic is expected to employ about 40 people, including 8 doctors, 17 nurses, 6 midwives, 6 assistants and 3 cleaning staff. The medical complex will serve about 100 patients per day in the outpatient clinic and will be able to accommodate up to 30 patients in the inpatient clinic.
It should be remembered that developing the healthcare sector in Cyprus and attracting foreign investment, medical tourism, as well as transforming the country into a high-level regional healthcare center is not an easy task. Investor interest in building or opening new hospitals on the island is an important step towards achieving the above goals. Over the past year, several foreign companies have announced plans to invest in the development of various medical facilities. This confirms the fact that healthcare in Cyprus is a very future-oriented and promising area.
