Cyprus will have one more photovoltaic park.
The Department of Environmental Protection has approved the construction of a park that will convert solar energy into electricity using special panels.
The main goal of the project is to build and operate an autonomous power unit generating electricity from the photovoltaic system.
According to the release, the new power plant, which will operate using the latest photovoltaic energy technology, will appear within the administrative boundaries of Peyia municipality (Paphos district).
The capacity of the photovoltaic park will be 5.7 MW.
The total area of the development site will be more than 50 thousand m2, of which the photovoltaic park will account for 30 thousand m2.
It is worth noting that the land on which the photovoltaic park will be built is located next to the Peyia Municipal Stadium.
The approximate cost of the project is estimated at 500 thousand euros.
As for the operational phase of the park, it is expected that it will not harm the environment. On the contrary, this project will help meet the region's energy needs and reduce the country's dependence on imported and non-renewable energy sources.
According to the local municipality, the construction of the PV park will be carried out under the Interreg Euro MED program. The project implementation period will be 33 months.

Recall that the question of economical consumption of electricity on the island has always been very acute.
The small area and the lack of natural minerals from which fuel is produced make Cyprus vulnerable to electricity consumption. Only new technologies can allow the country to save electricity and thus spend much less money on it.
Therefore, Cyprus is currently focusing on renewable energy sources, in particular solar panels. As a consequence, photovoltaic parks appear periodically on the island, on which there is great hope for the future.
I find this project very interesting. Are investors still being sought?
