The official opening of the new municipal car park on Grigorios Avxentiou Avenue took place in Larnaca on Sunday 6 October.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, and a number of municipal officials.
The new municipal car park is an important project for the city and its residents. The realisation of the project marks the completion of an important initiative, the main objective of which is to improve the quality of life of all residents. The Larnaca municipality is constantly looking for ways to make the city more friendly and functional," said the Mayor of Larnaca.
Mr Viras expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the realisation of this project. It is worth mentioning that during the inauguration of the new municipal car park, all those who came had the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition of classic cars organised by Larnaca & Famagusta Classic Cars. The exhibition presented an impressive collection of cars, creating a unique atmosphere.
The new car park is located on Turkish Cypriot land, where shantytowns for refugees have stood since 1975.
The shantytowns were demolished before the works, which started in April 2023. It should be noted that 500,000 euros have been allocated from the Larnaca budget for the new municipal car park. The car park has a total of 92 parking spaces.
The configuration of the new car park has been designed to meet a number of functional and aesthetic requirements. For example, the area around the car park has been landscaped. Modern street lighting has been installed along the entire perimeter of the car park, and sanitary facilities and bicycle stands have been provided.
It is worth mentioning that the design project was developed by ARMON Space Architecture Ltd. The decision to build a new multi-storey car park was taken in view of the active construction activity in the area and the increased demand of citizens for parking spaces.
