There is a new municipal parking lot in Larnaca. It is located in the city center on Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue, opposite Pancypriot High School.
On Monday, January 15, the company Kypris and Geranis Constructions Ltd, which was involved in the implementation of the project, officially handed over the infrastructure facility to the city municipality.
Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras and other municipal officials attended the acceptance. After the inspection, Vyras said that he was fully satisfied with the quality of the work done. He also noted that the new parking lot will be available to residents and visitors from Tuesday, January 16.

The new parking lot is located on Turkish Cypriot land, where shacks to accommodate refugees have stood since 1975.
Before the works, which started in April 2023, the shanty buildings were demolished. It should be noted that 500 thousand euros were allocated from the budget of Larnaca for the equipment of the new municipal parking lot. The parking lot has a total of 92 parking spaces.
According to Vyras, the configuration of the new parking area was done in such a way as to meet several requirements, both functional and aesthetic. For example, the area around the parking lot was landscaped. Modern street lighting was installed along the entire perimeter, and sanitary areas and bicycle parking spaces were installed.
It should be mentioned that the design project was developed by ARMON Space Architecture Ltd. The decision to build a new parking lot was taken because of the active construction in the area and the increased demand of citizens for parking spaces.
The Municipality of Larnaca prioritizes the smooth access and movement of pedestrians and people with reduced mobility in public areas, with the desire to gradually transform Larnaca into a green city. This is why this municipal parking project carries its weight, as it is located on the central axis of the city, next to the central square and the entrance to the city's shopping center," said the Mayor of Larnaca.
Andreas Vyras also said that in 2024, the city will begin work on a new private parking lot with a capacity of more than 200 cars in the Agios Lazaros area, next to the Opera House.
