The construction of Larnaca municipal market has been completed.
According to the contractor, which was entrusted with the implementation of a large-scale project, the building has been successfully delivered.
The municipal market is ready to open its doors to visitors. Official opening will be on Monday, January 23rd.
As you may remember, construction of a new municipal market in Larnaca began at the end of September 2018.
The new shopping center is located in the old city, it was constructed on the old parking lot, which was opened in 1996 after the demolition of the old market. The area of the new market is 2 thousand m2. In addition, 1.2 thousand m2 were given for green spaces.
On the ground floor of the building there will be 20 shops, an outdoor area, as well as an information center. The total area of all shops together is about 700 m2.
The mezzanine will have four cafes, a small gallery and a place for future exhibitions. On the second floor of the building, there will be a terrace with a seating area, a garden with plants and three bars. The project also includes a 6-level car park with 180 spaces. The new market is equipped with everything necessary for people with disabilities.
It is worth noting that the project became famous for numerous delays in implementation, as previous contractors constantly violated the terms of the contract and missed the deadlines for the completion of the facility. As a result, the completion of construction has shifted by almost three years.
