Construction of a modern multi-level car park on Antonis Papadopoulou Street in Paralimni, near the Paralimni-Deryneia municipal building, is underway. According to the municipality, the work is proceeding according to schedule, with contractors working intensively. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months of its launch, i.e. by September 2026.
Construction progress and financing
Currently, work is focused on constructing retaining walls and columns for the underground part of the building. The total cost of the project is €6,762,520, which is being jointly financed with the Land Department as part of the urban infrastructure development programme.
According to Mayor Yorgos Nikolettos, construction of the car park is an important step in the city's development. The new facility will reduce congestion in the centre of Paralimni, improve transport links, and support plans to enhance the central square and the historic core of the city.
The new car park will offer convenience for residents and visitors
The future multi-level complex will have three floors and accommodate 296 cars. Seventeen spaces will be equipped for people with disabilities and three for electric cars with charging facilities. A modern elevator will be provided for the convenience of visitors, making the car park accessible to all.
Impact on city life
The completion of the project will significantly reduce the shortage of parking spaces in the centre of Paralimni, attracting more visitors to the local shopping centre. This is particularly important given the plans to create a new public space in the main square area. Furthermore, the expansion of the parking infrastructure should positively impact the development of small businesses and enhance the city's tourist appeal.
