The Municipality of Paralimni Derynia has announced the signing of a contract with Stavros Andronikou & Sons Ltd to create a new linear park to the west of St Dimitrios Church.
According to the release, work on the project will begin in the coming days and will take approximately 12 months to complete. The new park will include an open green space with a special canopy and benches, a central square, car and cycle parking and public toilets. There are also plans to plant new trees and shrubs. Special attention will be paid to the creation of a high quality drainage system to prevent flooding. The beautiful public space is expected to improve the image of the area and become a new attraction for locals and visitors.
The cost of the project is estimated at €819,583. It will be co-funded by the EU's European Regional Development Fund under the Thalia 2021-2027 Cohesion Programme.
Our main objective as a local authority is to improve the quality of life of our citizens in all areas through projects like this. We are confident that the new linear park, which will completely renew the green area and at the same time connect the main street of Kosta Ilias with the church, will contribute to this,' said Mihalis Kaunas, representative of the Mayor's Office.
He also said that three more infrastructure projects are planned for the neighbourhood in the near future, which will improve the lives of its residents.
