On Monday, 19 January, the municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou officially presented a project to create a new large green area called the “Eastern Linear Park”. The presentation took place in the “Attikon” hall and brought together representatives of local authorities, architects, and city residents. The project has major environmental and social significance for the entire region.
The initiative aims to create a single green corridor that will connect urban and coastal areas, improve the quality of the urban environment, and create new spaces for recreation and an active lifestyle. The project fits into Paphos’s overall sustainable development strategy, where increasing attention is being paid to ecology and public spaces.
Length and main parameters of the park
The total cost of implementing the project is estimated at €9.2 million. The length of the new green area will exceed 7.3 km. The park route will start from the terminal roundabout of the Limassol–Paphos motorway and will extend to the Limnaria area, forming a continuous space for walking and alternative mobility.
According to the presented architectural plans, the project includes the creation of a 6,342 m pedestrian path, as well as a 2,638 m bicycle path. In this way, the park will become an important element of the city’s infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, helping to reduce the load from cars.

A space for recreation and urban life
The concept of the “Eastern Linear Park” includes not only greenery, but also a variety of leisure infrastructure. The park will feature areas for sports and relaxation, children’s playgrounds, a specially equipped dog-walking area, as well as an open-air theatre designed to host cultural events. The project will be complemented by birdwatching points, which highlights the initiative’s environmental focus and its educational potential.
For visitors’ convenience, a parking area for 105 cars is planned, 10 of which will be intended for people with disabilities, making the future park accessible to all categories of the population.
The architectural concept and next steps
The project is being developed by the architectural firm Chrysanthou Architects & Associates, known for its involvement in a number of public and urban projects in Cyprus. At this stage, the implementation timeline and key visual elements of the future park have not yet been disclosed to the general public. Municipal authorities note that details will be presented after all approvals are completed and funding is confirmed.
It is expected that the “Eastern Linear Park” will become one of the most significant urban projects of Paphos and Geroskipou, increase the region’s tourist appeal, and create a new point of attraction for both local residents and city visitors.
