The construction of a fire station in Larnaca is an important project that will contribute significantly to the prevention and effective suppression of fires in the city.
This was stated by Cypriot Minister of Justice and Public Order Marios Hartsiotis on Tuesday, March 26.
The construction of the fire station is expected to start in 2025 and will be completed in 2026, with a total project cost of €6 million. The new fire station will be constructed next to the current building.
Hartsiotis noted that the old station was built in 1958 and therefore has long needed modernization to fully meet today's requirements.
He emphasized that the management of the fire station has already started developing the architectural design in cooperation with the Department of Public Works. In addition, has envisioned and started preparing a "Project Note", which was made up and received a positive evaluation from the General Directorate of Development of the Ministry of Finance.
For his part, Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras said that the new fire station will strengthen the material and technical base of the fire departments of the district. It will be equipped with modern firefighting equipment, including for fighting fires in high-rise buildings. Firefighters will be able to arrive at calls faster.
