In Nicosia, the construction of a new state-of-the-art dairy plant called Olympus has been completed.
The project was carried out by Psaras Construction on behalf of Olympus Foods (Cyprus) Ltd. The large-scale plant is located in the industrial area of the Tseri district.
The official inauguration of the project took place on Thursday 10 October with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Konstantinos Skrekas and other high-ranking officials.
The main factory building consists of three floors, a mezzanine and a car park. The total built-up area is more than 30 thousand m2.
The project includes a loading and unloading area, a production area, offices, a milk storage area, a mixing and processing area, a kitchen-restaurant, a reception area, workshops, a staff entrance, toilets and a car park.
Milk is expected to be supplied to the plant by local producers with whom the company will enter into cooperation and development agreements. It will be used to produce various products to be supplied to shops on the island under the brands of local companies.
Access to the project is via Eleftheriou Venizelou Street. It is worth noting that the area adjacent to the new plant is sparsely developed, with a few open spaces in the vicinity. The area is mainly occupied by industrial facilities, such as a furniture factory and car repair shops. The municipality of Ceri is located 2 km to the west of the area.
The cost of the project is estimated at €40 million.
