On Wednesday, December 20, the mayor of Polis Chrysochous, Yiotis Papachristofi, visited the port of Latchi.
The local administration gave him a tour of the territory of the old warehouses, which were recently renovated.
According to a release from officials, a modern Maritime Museum will soon open in one of them.

In the future, visitors will be able to study the history of the sea and the entire neighborhood with the help of modern augmented and virtual reality technologies. For this purpose in the museum installed LED video wall of 6 segments (total area of about 60 m2), combined into one circular screen. It should be noted that the production and installation of the screens was carried out by the Cypriot company ASBIS. Its employees supplied the Led wall and controller, as well as were responsible for setting up and configuring the screens, controller and installation support.
The project is expected to make a great contribution to the cultural modernization of the area, attracting locals and foreigners.
The cost of the project is estimated at 335 thousand euros. The money for its implementation was allocated by Paphos Development, within the framework of the European program "Sea 2014-2020".

We will remind you that earlier, the port of Latchi was used to export the "black gold of Cyprus" - the fruit of the carob tree.
Therefore, on the territory of the resort area there are several warehouses where carob fruits were once stored. The warehouses are of great importance to the people of Latchi as they preserve the history of the region. Many of them eventually turned into cafes and restaurants, but some of them are still empty.
It is worth noting that Latchi has recently been the focus of much attention from the state and municipal authorities, who have taken up its beautification in earnest.
Mayor Yiotis Papachristofi said that in addition to modernizing the old warehouses, the municipality's efforts are now focused on the renovation of the entire port, reconstruction of old and construction of new roads, as well as beautification of the coastal area of Latchi.
Papachristofi emphasized that the Latchi port was last renovated 15 years ago, after which it was abandoned to its fate, unable to meet the increased needs of the region. The Mayor expressed hope that soon the situation will change dramatically and Latchi will become a place of attraction for numerous tourists.
