The construction of the new Paphos Youth Hostel has been completed. The developer is preparing to hand it over to the management of the local mayor's office.
This was announced by the Mayor of Paphos, Phedonas Phedonos, on Friday the 20th of September.
He also said that he, along with members of the Municipality, the Rector of the Cyprus Technical University (TEPAK) Panayiotis Zafeiris, representatives of the American University of Beirut-Mediterraneo and the University of Naples (NUP), as well as all those involved in the project, plan to spend the night in the building from Monday 23 to Tuesday 24 September in order to test the conditions in which the future residents will live. The building is expected to be officially handed over to the municipality next week, after which the first students will move in.
It is worth remembering that the project was launched in 2023.
The need to build a new hostel arose in view of the opening of branches of TEPAC and the American University of Beirut-Mediterraneo in the city. The municipal hostel building has a total area of 5,540 m2. It has 203 rooms.
