The Cyprus Department of Environmental Protection has given the green light to a new stadium in the Ipsonas area of Limassol.
This was announced on Monday, 22 July, by Pantelis Efthihiou-Georgiou, the Mayor of the local municipality.
We're delighted to say that we've got the go-ahead, which is a big step towards our goal of building a municipal stadium in Ipsonas. We're fully involved in the project, which was developed in 2018," said the Mayor of Ipsonas.
Eftihiou-Georgiou also said that the new stadium will meet all the requirements for modern football pitches and will be perfect for residents in the area. It'll even be able to host second and third division matches.

Just to flag up that a big sports facility is going to be built on Vounaros Street.
The stands on the northern side of the pitch will have 788 seats, including 10 for people with disabilities. There'll be a special metal canopy installed above the stands. Under the stands, there'll be toilets and changing rooms for football teams, a medical centre, a canteen, storage rooms, sanitary areas for fans and referee changing rooms.
There'll also be special booths for journalists and local media reps up in the stands. And there'll be a big car park for 76 cars and four spaces for buses next to the stadium. There'll be a fence around the stadium and the car park.
The project is estimated to cost around 1.8 million euros and will take about 18 months to complete.
