The municipal authorities of Akamas signed an agreement with the design company Efpalinos Research Ltd for the implementation of a major urban and tourism development project in the Kissonerga area near Potima beach. This initiative is considered an important step in modernizing the coastal territory and increasing its attractiveness for residents and visitors to the island.
What the development project includes
The agreement concerns the provision of consulting and design services. Specialists will prepare architectural solutions, technical documentation, and oversee construction progress. The main idea of the project is to create a convenient, modern, and aesthetically attractive public space that will improve the appearance of the area and enhance the quality of life for local residents.
As part of the area’s development, the construction of a tourist pavilion, landscaping of green areas, and creation of spaces for active recreation are planned. A children’s playground, an outdoor sports area, parking, and a convenient pedestrian route will be added. All this will make the area more comfortable for walking, sports, and safe movement.
Investments and significance for the region
The contract value is about 134 thousand euros excluding VAT. According to local authorities, the investment reflects a strategic course toward sustainable development, improvement of the urban environment, and support for tourism. Such projects are especially relevant today, as Cyprus is actively developing public space infrastructure, emphasizing environmental friendliness, accessibility, and comfort.

After the project’s implementation, the seaside territory should transform into a modern multifunctional space.
