The Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneou summarized the results of the tender for the construction of a new modern library.
YSG CONSTRUCTION LTD was the winner.
According to the release, work on the project will start in February. It is expected that the new library in the Larnaca area will open its doors to the public by the end of 2024.
According to the plan, the 2-story building will consist of several rooms, which will be equipped with a foyer and checkroom, a reading room and storage for 50 thousand books, a multimedia and digital library zone, a teen and children's corner, and a zone for presentations, lectures, and seminars.
The area around the building will be landscaped: comfortable benches, lanterns, parking lots for cars, and bicycle parking lots will be installed. The institution will also create conditions for access of low mobility groups.
It should be noted that for the needs of the library, the building of the former SPE Dromolaxia was allocated, which after the closing of the cooperative of credit companies for a long time remained abandoned. Two years ago it was handed over to the municipality, which decided to organize a modern library in it.
The cost of the project is estimated at 300 thousand euros + VAT. All funds will be provided by the Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneou.
