The Cyprus Environment Ministry has granted permission for the construction of a new sports centre for the Cyprus Football Federation (CFF).
According to the department, work will begin at the end of 2025. A large-scale facility is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2028 at the latest.
Recall that the modern sports centre will be built in the village of Kornos, near Larnaca. For this purpose, KOP has leased a plot of land measuring 143,827 m2. It should be noted that the grand project was developed by the architectural firm FEREOS ARHITECTS LLC - TSAMP. The company won the tender among 10 participants.
The new sports centre for KOP includes football pitches with all associated facilities, an office building and other auxiliary educational and hotel facilities, connected by a square with a landscaped area.
The development plan proposes:
- The creation of a guest lounge area at ground floor level, from which there will be public access to an elevated plateau, the Belvedere, in the form of a circular pedestrian circulation from the entrance to and from the stadiums.
- The ground floor will provide coaches' offices, athletes' changing rooms, seminar facilities and a café. From here, athletes and visitors will have access to 4 football pitches.
- The lower level will provide large storage areas, private changing rooms for the national teams, a gym and rehabilitation areas. Athletes will also have direct access to the main stadium and two training pitches.
The total construction area will be around 10,000 m2. The new football centre in Kornos will be the largest sports project in Cyprus.
