The State Health Organisation (ΟΚΥPΥ) has officially announced the start of a major renovation of the Archbishop Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia.

Construction has already started. On Friday 28 March, workers started site preparation. The project is expected to be completed by September 2026.
This is a significant investment in health care, which will improve the conditions of hospital stay and provide the best care for patients, especially children," the department stressed.

The gynaecology department will have new single and triple rooms with private bathrooms. The maternity unit will have 8 single rooms, 8 triple rooms, 2 quadruple rooms, special areas for breastfeeding.
The Health Minister emphasised that the modernisation of Nicosia Hospital is not just a renovation, but a qualitative improvement of the entire health system for children and women.
